Events 2023

Farmers Market (June through September)

The Spokane Valley Farmers Market operates every Friday evening, early June through mid-September. Located at CenterPlace Regional Events Center, the market offers local fruit and produce, eggs, meat, cheese, honey, wine, cider, soap and other handmade items from local farms and vendors. The market may also feature area artists and crafters. Attendees can food from local vendors and food trucks, and depending on availability, music provided by area musicians. Please come prepared to socially distance.

Spokane Valley Summer Theatre

Spokane Valley Summer Theatre, the premier professional theatre company in the region, has a complete lineup of amazing productions for Summer 2023. The theatre company also offers summer camps for area youth, grades 2-12. Visit the SVST website for more information about camp programs or to purchase tickets for upcoming productions.

Cycle Celebration

Cycle Celebration is generally scheduled the last Sunday in July. If you or members of your family are bicycle enthusiasts, you won't want to miss this fun event! It includes a 50-mile "Hills Around the Valley" ride, which loops bikers as far north as Mead and includes a few challenging hills, a 25-mile "Adventure Ride" runs mostly south of Spokane Valley and a 10-mile "Family Friendly" ride, which is an easy route that follows the Centennial Trail to the Barker Trailhead, and then back to Mirabeau Point Park. The Family Ride offers fabulous scenic views of the Spokane River. All bike riders start at the North Centennial Trail Head across at Mirabeau Point Park, 13500 E Mirabeau Parkway, in Spokane Valley.

Valleyfest

Valleyfest is an annual tradition held in late September at CenterPlace Regional Event Center, Mirabeau Point Park and Plantes Ferry Sports Complex. The three-day festival generally features live entertainment, food and arts/crafts booths, parade, bed races, car show, 5-kilometer and 10-kilometer runs, duathlon, family bike ride, robotics exhibition, outdoor movie and more. Winterfest

Northwest Winterfest 2023 is traditionally held in December at Spokane Fair and Expo Center. Attendees can tour the park and experience an outdoor winter wonderland featuring hand-painted holiday lanterns (some 25 feet high), hand-painted lantern trees representing different cultures, live music, cultural performances, and various food and craft vendors! Valley Activities

Mirabeau Point Park is a 55-acre park located in Spokane Valley along the west bank of the Spokane River and Centennial Trail. The park features a majestic waterfall, walking trails in a natural space, and the multi-sensory Discovery Playground for children of all ages and abilities. This is a special place in nature where families can gather for an afternoon picnic or take a quiet walk in the park. The CenterPlace Regional Event Center is adjacent to the park.

The Spokane Valley Heritage Museum brings connections to life from the past, to the present and future. Visitors experience local, statewide and national history through interactive displays, with the exhibit schedule changing frequently. The museum focuses on the businesses, people and events that shaped the community. It is a tourist destination with guests visiting from all 50 states and is open year-round. The museum also maintains one of the region's largest historical databases.

Spokane Valley is home to two historic, award-winning wineries. Arbor Crest Wine Cellars and Latah Creek Wine Cellars offer visitors an opportunity to sample delicious wines made from grapes grown in the Pacific Northwest. Both wineries host special tastings, music events, weddings and holiday festivities. The valley also hosts several breweries, distilleries, growler stations, and wine and beer shops.

The Spokane Valley Indians, a single-A minor league baseball team, has been a part of the Spokane Valley landscape since 1983. In 2020, the team became affiliated with Major League Baseball's Colorado Rockies. These days, the Indians play in Avista Stadium at the west end of Spokane Valley from mid-April through mid-September. The team is very popular and boasts one of the highest average attendance per game in the Northwest League - go Indians!

The Interstate Fairgrounds located in the valley not only host the Spokane County Interstate Fair in September, but also provide a venue for numerous unique events throughout the year, including but not limited to the Rod and Custom show, The Farm Chicks Show, Bighorn Outdoor Adventure Show and the Goodguys Car Show.

If you are a fan of aviation history, plan to visit Felts Field in Spokane Valley. The airport began as a landing field in a park area next to the river, was formally established in 1927, and served as Spokane's municipal airport in the 1930s and 40s. Today, it is home to more than 250 aircraft and 68 tenants, and hosts 59,000 operations annually. Its Skyway Café opens at 6 am and closes at 3 pm. Monday through Saturday, and 7 am to 3 pm on Sunday. The café is a great location to enjoy breakfast and lunch, and watch planes and helicopters fly in and out.

Nearby Activities

Just outside of Spokane Valley to 30 minutes north in the foothills of Mount Spokane - residents can take in the unique experience of Green Bluff Growers. This collection of farms offer year-round fun with events like the Strawberry Celebration, Peach Festival, Cherry Festival, Apple Festival, and holiday tree farm activities. The farms also host a seven-acre corn maze and fall pumpkin picking. Come spring, local farmers' markets fill with fresh berries, honey, artisan cheeses and garden vegetables, providing an opportunity for neighbors to shop, eat and hear live music.

The Spokane region offers some of the best road and mountain biking trails in the nation. Mount Spokane State Park, Camp Sekani/Beacon Hill, Antoine Peak and Dishman Hills are a few popular destinations.

If you are interested in breathtaking views while soaring high above a canopy of beautiful aspen and pine, contact Mica Moon Zip Tours. This unique company operates on Mica Peak near Liberty Lake. The 2.5-hour tour includes eight zip lines, eight platforms, two short hikes and opportunities to view local wildlife.

Manito Park is a public park located in Spokane's South Hill neighborhood. The 90-acre park has five gardens (Japanese, Duncan European, lilac, perennial and rose), a conservatory, duck pond, playgrounds, picnic shelter, walking and biking paths. There is no entrance fee. The park has more than 150,000 visitors each year.

The Spokane Chiefs play hockey in the Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena from late September to mid-March. The Chiefs are a major junior ice hockey team in the Western Hockey League. Hockey enjoys a rich, 70-year history in Spokane. With an average attendance of more than 5,000 per game, a Chiefs hockey game always promises to be fun, exciting and (most likely) loud.

Spokane's Riverfront Park hosts the Spokane Falls, hand-carved Looff Carrousel, Pavilion amusement rides, mini-golf course, park tour train and more. Several large festivals in the region include Art on the Green, MusicFest Northwest, get lit! (Literary festival) and Spokane International Film Festival.

Just north of Spokane, families can experience some of the world's biggest exotic cats at Cat Tales Zoological Park, a rescue sanctuary for large cats and black bears. Guided tours are available that allow visitors within eight feet of lions, tigers and bears.

Other activities within an hour's drive of Spokane Valley include Silverwood Theme Park and Lake Pend Oreille in Idaho, and several event venues, such as the historic Martin Woldson Theater and Spokane Arena, that host performances, concerts and other productions.
