Professional Services

Spokane Valley is home to a growing number of professionals or organizations that offer customized, knowledge-based services to customers. From engineering firms to health care providers to legal and financial companies - these businesses are finding low operating costs and an available skilled workforce. What's more, the city's vibrant community and quality of life make recruiting or relocating employees an easy process.

Low Costs

Spokane Valley's advantage begins with its low taxes. The city does not impose a local Business and Occupation tax and has not increased the city property taxes for six years. It is also home to friendly worker's compensation rates that keep costs low by basing the rates on hours worked rather than the wages paid.

There are also a variety of general employer incentive programs for everything ranging from the hiring of veterans to providing international services. Through the Washington Customized Training Program eligible businesses can also receive customized employee training. The level of customization ranges from existing training curriculum delivered at the job site to fully customized training curriculum developed exclusively for the business.

Accessible Workforce

Not only is Spokane County the largest labor market in Eastern Washington and North Idaho, but additionally, the area is home to 18 universities and colleges. Nearly 90,000 students study within an 80-mile radius. In addition to these graduates, Fairchild Airforce Base provides a working pool of retired military and military spouses. The largest jobholder group is 25 to 34 years old.

Recognizing that finding a skilled workforce is one of the most critical needs of any company, Spokane Valley also offers a wide range of resources to support the hiring needs of employers.

The Spokane Workforce Council offers employers resources such as job posting and screening, candidate source, job profiling, assessment testing, behavioral interviewing, on the job training and work opportunity tax credits. The Council coordinates a robust network of talent solutions resources for local businesses, all available under one roof at the WorkSource Talent Solutions Center. WorkSource Spokane also specializes in providing employers with tax information, the tools to find qualified applicants, and help with employee training.

When combined with Washington's community colleges, job skills programs and workforce college, these resources make building a highly skilled team fast and simple.
